This is quite a strange fitness tracker headphone combination that has gone through a number of iterations now. The previous one was the Talkband B5 from 2018. Huawei skipped version 4 for superstition’s sake.
The wearable is a contraption with a Bluetooth headset that slips neatly inside a fitness band. The idea is that you want something that will make it easy to make telephone calls whilst you’re on the move. If nothing else, Huawei should definitely be awarded Brownie points for originality.
Talkband B5 came with a 1.13-inch AMOLED touchscreen with 2.5D curved glass and 300 × 160 pixels resolution. The display is detachable from the band itself using the simple quick release button. This is the part of the wearable that transforms into a single-ear Bluetooth accessory.

The new B6 looks pretty much the same. However, the screen is larger this time around coming in at 1.53 inches (area increased by 50%), with 460 x 188 pixel resolution and 326 PPI density. It has anti-glare glass and is more premium looking.

The wearable has a voice assistant, remote camera feature, real-time motion detection, the typical fitness sensors and some Firstbeat analytics. The news here is support for SpO2 (blood oxygen monitoring), something its predecessor doesn’t have. It also adds, a female cycle management function, arrhythmia detection and understanding of sleep and breathing risks.
There are a total of 9 sports modes to choose from with activity statistics to match. Water sports are not amongst these as the B6 only has IP57 water-resistance. It’s only splash proof.
Under the hood you’ll find a Kirin A1 chip which brings Bluetooth 5.2 – important for something that works part time as a headphone. This ensures clear audio, an independent power management unit, and an ultra-low-power application processor. Inside is also 1 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage space.
As far as battery, the TalkBand B6 is good for up to 3 days of typical use or 8 hours of talk time. There a 120 mAh battery onboard. Thanks to 3C fast-charging technology, a quick 10 minute top-up is enough for 4 hours of conversation
Those in China can pick up the Sports version with a silicone strap for 999 yuan (around $140). The fancier Fashion edition with a camellia brown or mocha brown leather strap sells for 1199 yuan ($170). The third option is the Premium edition with a titanium bracelet which goes for 1499 yuan ($210).
Sales start from today with actual availability beginning on August 6th. No word yet on a possible global release.
