On 15 September 1942 the USS WASP (CV 7) was struck my multiple torpedoes that caused massive fires and tremendous explosions. After a forty minute effort to fight the fires, abandon ship was ordered. 193 crewmen lost their lives. One of those crewmen had written a letter to his five year-old son, which I offer you on Veteran's Day 2024 as a reminder of why these days of national rememberance and honor are so important.

Crashing the Prom is a missing chapter from Feasting with a Silver Spoon. Somehow, in the process of editing, re-writing, and then publishing that story, I simply lost it. In subsequent stories I’ve made several references to that night. I re-wrote it, which was a lot of fun, and posted it in a revised version of Feasting with a Silver Spoon, Chapter 38. When I was fourteen years old and found out that my sister Janice and her best friend Amber would be looking after me for the weekend, it was fair to say that I was excited. While I loved Janice, it was Amber who filled my briefs with joy. Even in my wildest dreams though, I didn't expect anything to happen. Maybe they just weren't wild enough?

A peaceful night camping is interrupted by the rumble of a classic muscle car rolling toward his camp. When the driver gets out, he's surprised to see an attractive older woman, and it's obvious she's distraught. He goes over to see if there's anything he can do for her, and learns that she's discovered her husband is cheating. What she needs is to give him a ride in the car, but not one that involves driving.

My thoughts on a couple of things in the news.

A Nexus Story (4)
This is the introduction piece for a series to come called Nexus Interludes. It will be a series of short stories that occur shortly after Nexus Evolution but are meant to be stand-alone. The stories can be read in any order. Of course, reading the entire Nexus series first would give you a fuller frame of reference.
